Flax can fuel more than just your morning smoothie. Dutch scientists and researchers have found that this hearty fiber also makes a great building material for scooters.
Combining flax and bio-resin, which is derived from vegetable oils, engineers were able to build the frame of this groovy scooter entirely from plants.
The scooter is equipped with a 600W charger that can charge at 12 miles per hour. Essentially buit for city traffic, the scooter can run up to 2 hours if driven at an average of 35 miles per hour.
Dubbed the Be.e.scooter, this baby was designed by Maarten Heijltjes and Simon Akkaya of Dutch design firm Waarmakers, along with the helpf of InHolland University of Applied Sciences and NPSP composites. It is being sold by Van.Eko.
