Culinary professionals from across Germany and Austria attended the S.Pellegrino Kulinarische Auslese award ceremony last night to discover which restaurants and chefs would be highlighted for their contribution to the industry.
The 14th annual Kulinarische Auslese was a star studded event with celebrities and VIPs joining chefs on the red carpet.
The Acqua Panna Lifetime Achievement award was given to the delicatessen Gerd Kafer, a man who has influenced the food culture of Germany like no other.
The Acqua Panna Female Chef award for Germany went to Sarah Henke and the best female chef in Austria was awarded to Sonja Brugger.
For Germany the top chef position was shared by three chefs, Harald Wohlfahrt, Joachim Wissler and Helmut Thieltges. Rudolf Obauer and Heinz Reitbauer Jun shared the title for best chef in Austria.
As well as the awards, since 2000 the Kulinarische Auslese have combined the results of seven top culinary guides to publish an extensive list of the best restaurants throughout Germany and Austria.
The list is compiled from the restaurant guides, Michelin, Gault Millau, Varta, Der Feinschmecker, Schlemmer Atlas, A la carte and Falstaff.
This year the extensive list of over 2000 German restaurants and over 200 Austrian restaurants will also be available as an app.
