Josep Roca has made a name for himself as the sommelier at El Celler de Can Roca, the world's second best restaurant. But what really drives his successful career? What is at the core of his happiness?
Roca, who works alongside brothers Jordi and Joan (all pictured above from left to right), shared his recipe for happiness and his favorite dish with Spanish publication Diario De Gastronomía as part of a campaign to raise awareness for the moderate consumption of wine.
Although he is surrounded by gourmet food at his family's three Michelin-starred restaurant, it's the simple things that really matter to Roca.
So what makes this accomplished sommelier happy? Here's his secret recipe:
- a sunny Sunday
- a walk along a vineyard
- 4 articles to read
- a family table set for 8
- Spanish-style risotto
- one glass of wine
Perhaps topping the World's 50 Best Restaurants list, which is sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, will be an added ingredient for happiness. Stay tuned to see how El Celler de Can Roca will fare in the awards ceremony to be held in London on April 29th. FDL will live stream the event so you won't miss a single second of the action.
