The war on the bar code has been on for a while now with a number of alternative solutions being developed. FDL recently brought you the news of the super market scanner in China that can automatically detect what items you have bought and now check out this piece of tech from a Japanese Bakery.
Using technology similar to face scanners called POS recognition, the system which was developed by The Brain Corporation and The University of Hyogo, can easily detect the difference in the numerous goods sold at the bakery.
The detection software is so accurate that the system can even tell the difference between sandwiches - this technology really could change the way we pay for our shopping in the supermarket.
