Thomas Keller's acclaimed restaurant The French Laundry is getting a makeover. The Yountville restaurant is getting a bigger kitchen and a garden and will close "for an undetermined period, likely later this year," the Napa Valley Register reports.
To make way for the remodel Keller "is negotiating with management of Silverado Resort and Spa to open a “pop-up” restaurant in the space that has housed the Royal Oak Restaurant for decades," according to unnamed sources the Napa Valley Register interviewed.
Details remain scarce about the renovation project but it won't impact the restaurant's dining room which will continue to seat 62 diners.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Keller's critically acclaimed restaurant which has spent the past 11 years on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
