New York's beloved pastry genius Dominique Ansel is continuing his geographic expansion with a new bakery planned to open this year with a Dominique Ansel store in Los Angeles.
Ansel, who became famous after people in New York went nuts for his Cronut creation, has since opened Dominque Ansel Bakeries in Tokyo and London, but the LA Times reports the latest project will be his biggest yet.
Pegged to open at the end of 2017, in a yet to be announced location, the Los Angeles location will include both the chef's famous pastry shop and his first full service restaurant, serving everything from breakfast right through to dinner and evening cocktails.
Ansel told the Times that the LA project will give him and his crew much more space to work, and that it will also allow him space to play in the savoury realm, something he says he originally trained to do.
Who knows what sort of things he will create. Waffletes? (That's waffle meets omelette for those unversed in the hybrid movement).
