Karen Eland is an artist fueled by caffeine. Not only is it her medium of choice when she paints, but also her favourite cup of joe as she works, painting with coffee.
Taking famous works of iconic art she depicts masterpieces with a paintbrush dipped in coffee as well as seamlessly slipping a cup of coffee into the painting, turning the likes of the Mona Lisa into the Mocha Lisa.
The Oregan artist uses nothing but espresso shots straight from the machine mixed with extra water, a similar technique you would expect to see used with watercolour.
Her love of coffee translates into all areas of her life as Eland admits: "I do love coffee. I actually became a barista after coffee painting, and have worked at several shops very passionately."
