While Gastón Acurio has been busy expanding his restaurant empire around the globe his flagship restaurant Astrid & Gastón in Lima has been serving up incredible food worth lusting over.
Below you'll find images from the restaurant's El Viaje menu which is best described as a theatrical production where diners enjoy a tasting menu of Italian food with a Peruvian twist.
Acurio's staff collaborated with legendary Italian chef Massimo Bottura to craft a dining experience where music, lighting, props and costumes to tell the story of Italian immigrants arriving in Perú at the turn of the century.
The dishes are edible masterpieces that arrive in suitcases, colorful wooden pyramids, salt blocks, figurehead dishes and other colorful creative vessels. It's no wonder that Astrid & Gastón was rated the best restaurant in Latin America.
