Bloody Mary Original Recipe
The world's most complex cocktail? Before saying that, try to make bloody mary with this easy recipe
ingredients
Preparation
Making this cocktail is relatively simple.
- STEP 1: Pour the vodka into a shaker along with the tomato juice and lemon juice.
- STEP 2: Shake vigorously and add Tabasco, the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. In case you don’t have a cocktail shaker, stir the ingredients slowly in the same order: it’ll take more time, but the final result will be the same.
- STEP 3: Along with the classic celery garnish, you can also add a carrot, a mint branch or other vegetables.
- STEP 4: If you serve the drink in a tall tumbler, add a few ice cubes to the bottom of the glass.
The bloody mary cocktail is thought to have been invented by a French bartender named Fernand Petiot in 1921. He was working at Paris’s New York bar at the time, a popular spot with confirmed drinkers such as Ernest Hemingway. Having said that, some have also claimed that the 'Bucket of Blood' was created in New York itself later in the 20s. Be that as it may, all the best cocktails have an air of mystery about them, and it definitely doesn’t detract from their flavour.
Another classic that will have you dreaming of Caribbean beaches, the Piña Colada is a combination of white rum, pineapple juice, lime juice and coconut milk. What could be better than the sophisticated elegance of a Sidecar – a simple combination of just three ingredients: cognac, triple sec and lemon juice. Lastly, why not go for an Italian tradition? Another very simply drink, a Negroni will have you fantasising about lazy summer afternoons on Milanese terraces.
