Bordeaux is now the best place to eat in France according to a new ranking of the country's food cities, which places it above both Paris and Lyon

The league table, compiled by food site Atabula, compared the quality of the restaurants in each city – by looking at the number of Michelin stars and mentions in prestigious food guides, such as Le Fooding, for example – with population size, The Local reports.

Bordeaux now has three, two Michein star, three one star and three Bib Gourmand recommended restaurants. The latest to grab a second star in Bordeaux is Gordon Ramsay's Le Pressoir d'Argent, which is seen as a bit of a return to form for the British chef.
