Forget Joe Exotic and Tiger King, and instead say hello to tiger steaks, lion burgers, zebra sushi, giraffe ham, and 'elephant oil'. A new range of exotic lab-grown animal meats is being pitched by a food-tech startup in a bid to tempt Londoners to eat on the wild side.

While lab-grown meats have steadily increased in popularity over the past few years, thanks to their greener environmental credentials, the offering has so far remained fairly conservative. Following a recent dip in sales, Primeval Foods have taken the opportunity to pounce on the market by introducing an innovative new savannah-inspired range of cultured meats.

Lab-Grown Foie Gras Could be a Game Changer

French food tech start-up Gourmey has developed a lab-grown foie gras, and they claim it looks and tastes like the real thing. Take a look.

“People are constantly seeking to discover new foods, new restaurants, new culinary experiences, but the traditional species have reached their limitation on meeting this demand,” Yilmaz Bora, managing partner of Ace Ventures, the London-based venture studio that created Primeval Foods, told The Independent.

Apparently, London's Michelin-starred restaurants will be among the first to explore the range, with further plans to expand to retailers, so, prepare to put the exotic on your table soon and say grrrrrr.
