The White Guide's sixth edition to Denmark was launched this week with the recently opened Alchemist in Copenhagen taking the top spot.
Head chef and co-owner Rasmus Munk's pioneering new restaurant offers diners a multisensory experience and despite having been open less than six months, catapults straight into number one, closely followed by Noma (last year's winner) also in Copenhagen and Koks in the Faroe Islands.
Take a look inside the Alchemist here
Speaking of the Alchemist's win the White Guide noted that “The experience is on such a large scale that such a totality has never before been seen” and that “the sustainable message is not only present in the preparations, ingredients, interior and thought. It is also explicit in the kitchen’s creations that verge on the provocative but never cross the line to being unrecognizable” and ultimately that “the music and visuals support the etherical state in which we all can stop and think about what it is we do to ourselves, to what we eat and to the planet we inhabit. To master so much in just one meal is unrivalled.”
