New York’s The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog (above) has been voted best bar in the world at the annual World’s 50 Best Bars awards, topping the list for the first time, having come second in the previous two years.
New York and London bars dominate the top 10 best bars in the world, with four and five entries respectively. London’s Artesian, which has topped the rankings since 2012, has spectacularly dropped out of the list after a major change in personnel, making it instead on to the ‘Bars to Watch’ list. Athens’ The Clumsies is the only bar outside of these two cities to make the top 10 best bars in the world.
London is the most successful city overall, with nine bars in the top 50, while the US has 14. The American Bar at The Savoy in London was voted Europe’s Best Bar. The Connaught Bar, voted World’s Best Bar at the Annual Spirited Awards earlier in the year, comes in at number four.
Drinks International magazine produces the annual list from a survey of over 400 drinks industry professionals. The awards ceremony was held in London on 6 October.
