How To Make the Best Coleslaw

You won't believe how easy it is to make this coleslaw recipe. It's perfect for summer potlucks and parties. It’s packed with fresh, lively flavours that wake up anything you serve it with. Try this as a topping to sandwiches, served next to braised beef or pulled pork. You won’t believe how easy coleslaw is to make at home – just a few ingredients, most of which you probably already have in your kitchen.

ingredients

Cabbage
1/4 red or purple
Cabbage
Cabbage 1/4 green
Carrots
2
Mayonnaise
1 c.
Dijon mustard
1 tbsp
Celery seeds
2 tbsp
Sugar
2 tbsp
Apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp
Pepper
Salt

Step 01

Finely shred the cabbage using a mandoline or make thin slices with a knife. 

Step 02

Grate carrots on the larger side of a box grater.

Step 03

Put the vegetables in a colander and sprinkle lightly with salt. Leave to stand for one hour.

Step 04

Drain off the juice, pressing the vegetables to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the juice.

Step 05

Put the vegetables in a large bowl.

Step 06

For the dressing, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, sugar and celery seed. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 

Step 07

Pour the dressing over the vegetables and mix gently.

Step 08

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. The best way to serve coleslaw is to chill it for at least a couple of hours.
