Almost Famous Chef 2012: Congratulations to the Winner!

Kendall College student, Jennifer Kim (in the picture), has been announced as the winner of the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition. The awards, now in their tenth year,  
welcome more than 70 culinary schools from across the U.S and Canada with the aim of highlighting emerging and fresh talent in the world of cooking.

A panel of Chefs Joho, Eric Ripert (in the picture during the final judgement), Gary Danko, Susur Lee, Tony Mantuano, Michel Richard and Bob Hurley gave the overall prize to Kim who beat competition from nine other regions with her dish of chard and rolled duck roulade. She will receive $10,000, a one year paid apprenticeship with one of the chef judges.

The finals were in the Napa Valley, California, and Jennifer was obviously over the moon saying: "I am speechless and this is a dream come true – to be chosen as the winner of a culinary competition of this caliber by the best chefs in the nation. I'm honored and ready for my career to begin with one of the chef mentors."

We wish Jennifer and all the finalists the best of luck and look forward to seeing more great young chefs at next years competition.
