Sirha Innovation Awards 2017: A List of the Winners

Some of the most innovative new products and equipment in the food world went on show at the Sirha trade show in Lyon yesterday, as the winners of the Sirha Innovation Awards 2017 were honoured in a special ceremony at what is one of the globe's largest catering and hospitality events.

Vite Fait Bienfait, a smartphone app focused on catering in oncology departments received the Special Award of the Jury – a judging panel of chefs, catering professionals, nutritionists, designers and journalists.

Among the winners in the 'Products – Beverages – Ingredients' category was a smart pasta from Alpina Savoie that rehydrates in cold water, while the 'Appliances – Equipment – Concepts' category included a temperature control device from Promeco that promises to keep food at an ideal temperature for hours, and a high speed oven from Enodis France that cooks food 20 times faster than a conventional oven.

The awards, 13 overall, were originally announced back in December. Entries were judged on several criteria: "innovation, ease and cost of implementation, design, taste and nutritional value, quality, energy saving and waste reduction."
