The idea of using technologies to enhance a dining experience is nothing new, we’ve reported on a number of interesting projects from augmented reality to multi-sensory dining events and food served on light plates.
Now, what about the idea of using 3D animation, motion capture and special projections to take a regular dinner and fire it right into the future.
The idea is from Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeek at SkullMapping and basically allows diners to experience a virtual chef that appears on their table and starts to cook dishes on a virtual grill. Sounds totally insane, we know, but take a look at the video below and you’ll quickly get an idea as to what they’re trying to achieve.
This to us could really be one of the next steps we see incorporated in restaurants as more and more places look to excite guests off the plate as well as on it.
Take a look.
