Ever wondered what it's like to eat like a royal? You probably picture elaborate banquets where caviar, champagne and truffles are common place. Thus, you'd be surprised to know the royal palate is one that prefers simple flavors made with local seasonal ingredients.
That's the picture painted by The Royal Touch: Simply Stunning Home Cooking from a Royal Chef, a cookbook written by Carolyn Robb who spent 13 years as the personal chef to Prince Charles, Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Royal Touch is divided into 10 chapters covering 100 recipes fit for a king - everything from little snacks and 'nibbles' to main courses for summer dining, nostalgic pudding desserts, stunning cakes for afternoon tea and homemade bread.
Robb reveals that many of the ingredients for the recipes came straight from the royal family's estate including milk, vegetables and herbs. Leftovers were incorporated into the next day's meals and more extravagant ingredients were reserved as gifts.
