Kodo Kiyooka is a ceramic artist who crafts spectacular Japanese cookware using ancient techniques that date back to the 12th century.
Kiyooka lives in Shigaraki, located in Japan’s Shiga Prefecture, which has one of the six oldest kilns in the country and is known for its good, sandy clay. The ceramics produced there are called Shigaraki Yaki.
Kiyooka's line of Japanese cookware includes cups, bowls, plates, coffee pots and frying pans covered in attractive glazes made from blue ash, Isunoki plant’s ash and minerals. The cookware ranges in color from beautiful pale blue to intriguing browns.
