Wouldn't it be helpful if some of the kitchen appliances cluttering your countertop served multiple purposes? Well, your cooking space may soon be stocked with hybrid kitchen gadgets.
That's the idea behind a provocative new project called La Gambiarra, which reimagines household items like a drill, a hair dryer and an iron as toasters, blenders and tea kettles.
French designers Basile de Gaulle and Romée da la Bigne collaborated for a year to develop hybrid kitchen gadgets "inspired by Cuba, incarceration and more generally by situations where a lack of resources can prove to be both a handicap and a catalyst for ingenuity," they describe on their blog.
Below you'll find some of the hybrid kitchen gadgets in their series which will be be exhibited in the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design of Bordeaux. Who knows? They may inspire the kitchen gadgets of the future...
