The much anticipated documentary about famous Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio is finally hitting the big screen. Called Finding Gaston, the film will debut March 20th.
Acurio's rise to international fame and the many accolades he's garnered along the way are documented in the film directed by Patricia Pérez.
The Puno Ladies
To make the film, Pérez and her crew had to follow Acurio around the world. From quinoa fields of the Andean Altiplano to London for the announcement of The World's 50 Best Restaurants list and encounters with groups like the ladies of Puno in the South of Peru.
In an interview with Fine Dining Lovers Pérez said: "It has been an incredible and wonderful adventure to follow him and discover all the instances that define Peruvian cuisine. It's taken almost three years to complete our footage, because we didnt want to plan anything, there was no script, we wanted to film things as they happened to get an "authentic" feeling."
It's been an exciting couple of years for Acurio whose restaurant Astrid & Gastón has been named Latin America's best restaurant. The chef, whose empire stretches across the Americas and into Europe, most recently announced the opening of his cevicheria, La Mar in Miami.
