The Michelin Guide for Tokyo 2014 (which includes Yokohama and Shonan) has been released with the big news being that three restaurants debuted in the guide with a two-star rating.
Goryukubo, Dominique Bouchet and Yunke all entered the guide with two stars something that used to be a rare occurrence. Three other restaurants went from one to two stars with Sant Pau, Taku-tei and Uchitsu all gaining their second star.
In the three star ratings Michelin actually dropped one establishment, the famous tempura restaurant 7 chome Kyoboshi which dropped from a three to a two star rating. The Tokyo edition now includes 14 three star restaurants, 13 of which are in Tokyo and one in Shonan.
There were a total of 15 new one star ratings awarded in the guide with 14 in Tokyo and one in Yokohama.
In total the Michelin Guide for Tokyo 2014 contains 14 three-stars, 59 two-stars and a massive 208 one-stars.
