Mark Wahlberg has told reporters that he will open some Wahlburger restaurants in England and Ireland this year.
In an interview with the UK Metro Newspaper, the actor said: "We’re opening a bunch of them in Britain and Ireland this year." And why not? His first burger joint in Hingham, Massachusetts, has proven to be a huge success since he opened it with his brothers and business partners, Donnie and Paul.
As Wahlberg said: "A successful burger place takes maybe $2,400 a day. A really successful one does $6,000. We’re making $17,000 a day. There are lines queuing around the corner."
Mark's brother, Paul, is the lesser known Wahlberg sibling but has had a successful career as a chef working at the Four Season Hotel and more recently opening his own Italian restaurant Alma Nove.
But don't get too excited just yet, as it seems the famous Wahlburgers might not be available in the UK so soon. Mark may have got a little bit too enthusiastic in his interview with Metro with a number of reports online are suggesting that big brother Donnie has denied claims of Wahlburgers opening any new locations in the near future.
We're not sure who to believe on this one but we can't wait to taste their burgers and find if it's the Wahlberg name or a special burger sauce making their place almost three times more profitable than the compeitition.
