Tokyo confirmed its place as the city with the most Michelin-starred restaurants, as the guide revealed its selection for 2022.
In total, there are 203 starred restaurants in Tokyo, down on last year’s tally of 212. All 12 of Tokyo’s three-star restaurants maintained their ratings this year, three of them - Kanda, Joël Robuchon and Quintessence - for the 15th year in a row, a staggering achievement.
Three one-star restaurants were upgraded to two Michelin stars - Edomae-style sushi restaurant Nihonbashi-Kakigaracho Sugita, French restaurant Asahina Gastronome, and the minimalist European restaurant Crony - bringing the total of two-star restaurants in the city to 41.
There were 21 restaurants added to the guide for the first time, bringing the total of one-star restaurants to 150, and 35 were added to the Bib Gourmand category. The guide dished out 14 green stars, up from 8 last year.
Special awards went to Mr. Hiroyuki Kanda, who took the Chef Mentor Award, and Ms Mayuka Arai, who took the Service Award. See the full list below:
