The Michelin Guide has announced its star selection for Spain and Portugal 2023, which includes two restaurants newly-crowned with three stars, three new two-starred restaurants, and 34 new restaurants with one star.
New stars on the Spain and Portugal Michelin Guide
Cocina Hermanos Torres in Barcelona, with twin-brother chefs Sergio and Javier Torres at the helm, climbs into the highest escelons of fine dining with three Michelin stars, as does chef Toño Pérez' Atrio in Cáceres. Spain now boasts 13 three-Michelin-star restaurants.
Three new two-star restaurants include Deessa in Madrid’s Mandarin Oriental Ritz, where Quique Dacosta's menu is executed by chef Guillermo Chávez; Pepe Vieira, in the small village of Serpe, under chef Xosé T; and finally, El Rincón de Juan Carlos, located within the Royal Hideaway Corales Beach (Adeje, Tenerife), where the Padrón brothers offer their take on traditional Canary Islands recipes. Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal now features 41 two-star restaurants, 34 of which are located in Spain, and seven in Portugal.
A very healthy showing of new one-star restaurants in this new edition includes 29 restaurants in Spain and five in Portugal, taking the total up to 235 one-Michelin-star restaurants for both Spain and Portugal - 203 in Spain, 31 in Portugal and 1 in the Principality of Andorra.
