From Ashes to Action: L.A. Restaurants Rally for Wildfire Relief

As an Angeleno, I’m heartbroken and devastated by the wildfires that have ravaged our city. The fires continue to burn as of this writing; ash rains through the air, and the air quality has all of us dusting off our COVID masks to protect our lungs from the pollutants spewing into the atmosphere.

If there’s a bright spot amid this disaster, it’s how the city has come together to help victims who have lost everything. Even more so, the restaurant community in Los Angeles has stepped up once again (as they do in every crisis) by providing meals to first responders and fire victims alike.

To put things in perspective, the restaurant industry has been decimated, especially in Los Angeles. The number of closures is too numerous to list. Between COVID, rising insurance costs, rent increases, the rising cost of goods and services, labor strikes, remote work policies, and now these wildfires, it’s only becoming harder to operate a restaurant in L.A.

Yet, with all that said, the restaurants of Los Angeles are still first in line to help. They’re ready to offer free meals, shelter, water, and anything else the community needs. At Fine Dining Lovers, we want to support all restaurants so they can continue to enrich their communities.

Below is a list of restaurants that have gone above and beyond, as well as restaurant-related organizations offering assistance:

World Central Kitchen: The global food relief nonprofit founded by renowned chef José Andrés is already active in Southern California, providing support to first responders and evacuees.

Hollywood Food Coalition: The Community Exchange program has been serving as an emergency distribution hub and provides critical support to impacted organizations across Los Angeles, in addition to serving a nightly Community Dinner.

Restaurants Care: Offers relief and assistance applications.

The LA Times: Has compiled a comprehensive list of restaurants providing help.

Eater LA: Has curated a list of organizations to donate to.

Food & Wine: Provides a list of organizations accepting donations.

GoFundMe: Has created a wildfire relief fund.

The Angel: A comprehensive list of resources to follow.
