50 Top Pizza 2022 Awards: The Best Pizzerias in Italy Ranked

50 Top Pizza 2022, the ranking of the best pizzerias in Italy, was presented at the Mercadante Theatre in Naples, Italy, this week.

Francesco Martucci, from I Masanielli in Caserta, took the title of best pizzeria in Italy for a fourth consecutive year. Next, Ciro Salvo rose to second place with his 50 Kalò in Naples (which recently also landed in the capital, with 50 Kalò Roma, and who was in sixth place last year). In third position, we find Diego Vitagliano, of 10 Diego Vitagliano in Naples, who dropped down one position. In fourth place, I Tigli in San Bonifacio (VR); in fifth place Francesco & Salvatore Salvo in Naples; sixth, Seu Pizza Illuminati in Rome; seventh, La Notizia 94 in Naples; eighth, 180 g Pizzeria Romana in the capital; in ninth place, the Dry pizzeria Milan in Milan; and in tenth place, the new Caserta club, Cambia-Menti, by Ciccio Vitiello.

This year the guide includes more than 500 pizzerias in different categories, including Top Pizzerias (the 50 best pizzerias in Italy), Great Pizzerias (from 51 to 100), Excellent Pizzerias and Pizzas on the go - by the slice and take-away.

In addition, the 'Benemerito della Pizza' prize was awarded to three pizza chefs: an award that went to three masters of the white art who have changed the history of pizza since the beginning of the 2000s: Enzo Coccia, Simone Padoan, Gabriele Bonci.

Among the top 100 pizzerias, the southern region of Campania boasted the most, with 30. Lazio, in second place, has 13 addresses, followed by Lombardy with 12. Then, Tuscany (with 10 pizzerias), Puglia and Veneto (5), Piedmont and Sardinia (4), Sicily (3), Abruzzo, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Marche (2). With 1 pizzeria, Calabria, Molise, Trentino-Alto Adige and Umbria also appear in the ranking.
