“The competition was fierce,” said Andy Macdonald, who heads up Pink Lady® in the UK, “there were 8000 images entered from 60 countries and the standard was exceptional."
The awards, which allowed entrants to submit as many images as they want, were organized in more than 20 categories, from Marks & Spencer Food Portraiture and One Vison Cream of the Crop, to Food for the Family, World Food Programme Food for Life and Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year.
And the winner is…
The Bangladeshi photographer Noor Ahmed Gelal was announced as Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2018 with his stunning image Praying with Food (in the picture above of the article), which shows a section of the Hindu community while preparing to break the day-long fast in one of the local temples at Swamibag, Dhaka, Bangladesh. This picture also won the 1st Prize for the category Food for Celebration.
“Noor’s shot stood out from the rest in its category however, for the way in which he made the subject matter so fascinating and distinctive.” said Macdonald.
