The picture above may look like it was shot in the North Pole but would you believe this surreal landscape was photographed at a salt refinery in Australia? This breathtaking image is part of Salt, a series shot by Melbourne-based photographer Emma Phillips.
The refinery is located near the Nullarbor Plain in Western Australia, which is where most of the country's salt supply comes from. Phillips stumbled across these saline mountains while traveling through the region in 2010. She was instantly taken aback by the otherworldly landscape and wanted to capture the images with her camera.
