One of the most iconic chef cooking shows, Iron Chef, is to get a big money reboot thanks to Netflix.
As Netlfix’s global audience appears to still have an insatiable hunger for all food-related content, the streaming platform has decided to return to one of the best and weirdest cooking show formats of all time – Iron Chef. The super-sized version of the cable classic will be called Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend.
In an official statement, Netflix said: “The legendary Iron Chef series is reborn with a supersized approach to the ground-breaking culinary competition that started it all. It’s been called the toughest culinary challenge a chef will ever experience. This is where world-class cuisine meets high-octane sports. Five new trailblazing Iron Chefs will welcome brave Challenger Chefs to the reimagined Kitchen Stadium, where they’ll face off and be pushed to the limits of endurance and creativity, as they cook up extraordinary culinary creations. The competition’s most successful Challenger will return to battle in a grand finale for the chance to be named the first-ever ‘Iron Legend'.”
The original Iron Chef first launched in 1993 in Japan, with Food Network picking up the format in 1999. The show is considered a classic and thought to be the mother of the reality cooking competition shows such as Top Chef and Hell’s Kitchen.
