The Michelin Guide to Washington D.C. has dropped for 2022, including four new one-stars taking the capital up to 24 restaurants with star status, doubling the number of restaurants from when the guide first launched six years ago.
The four new one-stars, denoting 'a very good restaurant', include Albi, Imperfecto: The Chef's Table, Oyster Oyster and Reverie, and range from a Middle Eastern in Southeast, to a vegetarian tasting room in Shaw.
New one-star restaurants
- Middle Eastern restaurant Albi, located in Navy Yard, joins the one-star listing. Chef/owner Michael Rafidi pumps out flavourful Middle Eastern favourites like burnt eggplant baba ghanoush, and embered mushroom hummus with plenty of smoke and char.
- Chef Enrique Limardo serves his guests Latin American flavours in person at Imperfecto: The Chef's Table, with punchy dishes like kampachi tartare in kombu dashi with charred avocado seeds, and aged hiramasa with leche de tigre.
- Chef Rob Rubba concentrates on confident vegetable-focused cooking at new entry Oyster Oyster in Shaw, where he offers a vegetarian or 'oystertarian' tasting menu.
- Chef Johnny Spero is showcasing contemporary mid-Atlantic seasonal cuisine inside his Nordic-vibe neighbourhood restaurant Reverie in Georgetown. Dishes include brown-butter-and-tamari-soaked toast with beef tartare, spoon-tender pork confit presented with a blood sausage purée, and frizzled white kombu.
The only three-star restaurant on the list, The Inn at Little Washington, retains its top-star status, as do the three two-star restaurants; Pineaple and Pearls, Jônt and Minibar. See the full list below.
