The Michelin Guide for the Netherlands 2014 has been released and the big news is the country now boasts a new three-starred venue with the De Leest restaurant in Vaassen and chef Jacob Jan Boerma receiving a third star.
De Leest becomes the country's second three-starred restaurant joining De Librije with chef Jonnie Boer in Zwolle.
Three new restaurants received their second star with Bord'Eau in Amsterdam and the FG and Fred restaurants both in Rotterdam.
There were a total of nine new restaurants awarded their first star with Michelin claiming that Dutch chefs across the country were working on "simpler yet very high quality ingredients" with a focus on "the product itself rather than on side dishes or interior decoration."
