The Michelin Guide Germany 2019 has been released with the big news that five new two-starred restaurants make the listing as well as 37 new one-star restaurants.
Purs in Andernach debuts with two stars, the restaurant opened just a year ago under head chef Christian Eckhardt, joining the two-star rankings are also Luce d’Oro in Krün, restaurant Sosein in Heroldsberg, Alexander Herrmann by Tobias Bätz in Wirsberg and Ox & Klee in Cologne. This takes the total of two-star restaurants in the country up to 38 restaurants.
New one star additions include a fusion of flavours across the country. Capital city Berlin is a good example with new additions like fine dining dessert restaurant CODA Dessert Dining, seasonal and locally focused Ernst, Scandinavian, Spanish and Italian fusion restaurant SAVU and Thai restaurant Kin Dee.
While no new three stars made the red guide this year, the country still boasts 10 three Michelin-starred restaurants, down one on last year after La Vie in Osnabrück closed.
Germany is now riding on an all-time high boasting 309 restaurants in the guide in total.
