Meet Tino Vettorello, the chef in charge of cooking Italian food at the 22nd edition of the Winter Olympics to be held in Sochi from February 6th to 23rd.
Aside from the Italian sports team, Vettorello will be joined in Russia by the staff from his catering venueTinoEventi, which includes the talented Walter Cream. The chefs will be welcomed by two trucks full of typical Italian products waiting to be prepared at the Olympics.
Vettorello, who was chosen by the Olympic committee, is traveling with all the raw materials necessary to prepare Venetian and Mediterranean -inspired dishes. His cargo already arrived at the Dead Sea and includes some fine wines, radishes, cheese and salami.
The dishes he plans to make are simple and healthy, as to safeguard the welfare of athletes. He will also offer internationally-inspired dishes to satisfy the tastes of athletes from around the world.
It is not the first time that the chef is the star of a sporting event. Vettorello's gourmet cuisine has been featured in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and the 2009 World Swimming Championships in Rome.
