Clare Smyth is a mentor for the talented young chefs participating in the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy competition, providing indispensable advice, guidance and support as one of the competition’s Seven Sages. As part of our Lessons Learned series of personal letters reflecting on the Sages' professional journeys, obstacles, failures and successes, Fine Dining Lovers asked the chef to share some advice that she would give a younger version of herself just starting out.
Smyth is the chef-owner of Core by Clare Smyth restaurant in London, her first solo venture, which was recently awarded three Michelin stars in the Great Britain and Ireland Michelin Guide 2021 after opening in 2017. Smyth has also been recognised as the World’s Best Female Chef by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants.
