By Rose Y.Colón on
What does it take to be in top shape for the Olympics? What an athlete eats is as important as how hard they train. Photographer Umit Bektas found out just how much athletes eat when preparing for the 2012 Summer Olympics to be held in London.
Umit photographed the daily meals of Turkish athletes, some of whom eat as little as 1,500 calories and as much as 3,500 calories a day, depending on their dietary needs. What do their Olympic meals look like? See below.
Elif Jale Yesilirmak, wrestling, 3,000 calories a day

Mete Binay, weightlifting, 3,500 calories a day

Merve Aydin, track, 3,000 calories a day

Nur Tatar, taekwondo, 1,500 calorie a day

Fatih Avan, javelin, 3,500 calories a day
